Book Review: Shabanu

So I have to read this book for my Language Arts class, and it's called Shabanu: daughter of the Wind. It's by Suzanne Fisher Staples, and it's about this Indian/Pakistani girl, Shabanu, who lives with her mother, father, sister, and animals on a camel ranch. Shabanu loves camels, especially Mithoo, a camel she birthed herself, and Guluband, the family's old, trustworthy traveling cmael. When Guluband gets sold for a great sum, Shabanu knows it is right but also knows she'll never be whole again without him. She sullenly continues on the journey back home, and when she arrives, she finds her relatives there, preparing for Phulan's dowry. Phulan, her older sister, is soon getting married off to Hamir, the brother of Murad, who Shabanu is getting amrried to eventually. Everyone's hustling and bustling, and when the nig sandstorm hits, Grandfather disappears. They search and search, and find himalmost completely caked in sand, dying. They rush him to Derawar, the base where he served in the army. After they refuse to give him a decent grave after he risked his life for them, Shabanu's famiy buries Grandfather in the sand near Derawar. The family waits out Ramadan in the village, waiting to go to Hamir's family's home to prepare for the wedding.... That's where I am so far. It's really good! You should read it! 4 stars, so far!

By the way, sorry if I'm not posting much, I'm very busy with school and after-school activities and HALLOWEEN! But I'll try to keep you guys posted as much as possible from now on, okay?
