Quote of the Week

So, since I'm on here, I might as well do another post just to satisfy you for a while. So here's another quote:

"If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." -J.K. Rowling

I like this quote a lot because
a) it gives a insight into how man treats people, which is a matter I think everyone should think about, and
b) it's from J.K. Rowling! Do you KNOW who she is?!

Oh..you..you don't.

*violently shakes naive innocent reader* HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHO J.K. ROWLING IS SHE PRACTICALLY WROTE MY LIFE SHE WAS THE ORIGINAL
JOHN GREEN
SUZANNE COLLINS
VERONICA ROTH
RICK RIORDAN
LOUIS LOWRY
GAYLE FORMAN
J. K. ROWLING IS BAE. J. K. ROWLING IS LIFE. J. K. ROWLING FOUNDED FANGIRLING.

and you don't even know who she is.

stupid muggles.

Jingle Bells

So I know I haven't been posting much lately, and this is kind of just a bored-what-should-i-do situation, so please forgive me for any bad thinking or uninteresting material.

So, Christmas has arrived! The smell of pinecones and sugar cookies is in the air, as well as a fun joyous feeling. Presents are stocked in the chimney with care, and...wait. That's not mine. But, on a serious note, Aren't you guys all super excited for Christmas? I sure am! I don't know, but there's just something about counting the days off on your calendar, nervously wrapping gifts before your family members notice you've been missing in your room for an hour...making ornaments to hang up on the tree, and making it look prettier than all of your friends'....anyways. Although the invigoration of Christmas looms near, I still weary sometimes, just out of stress and impatience and sleep deprivation. I try to be patient with my family and keep them cheery, but sometimes I just want to curl up, you know? Just fall asleep on the couch and wake up on Christmas morning-wait, actually, no. I rather like the preparation, almost as much as the actual reward. It may seem weird, but isn't the preparation for any and every holiday mostly about the preparation anyway? Halloween, really the most fun part is getting your costume and afterwards sorting out all your candy with your family. Really, holidays are about what you do to prepare and what you do afterwards; the actual event is only a side effect. So, although Christmas is coming close, I would kind of push it farther away if possible, because all the real celebration is in the preparation.

Thanks for listening to my boring monologue.

(Though you can't blame me, I'm at school and I'm VERY tired).

Book Review: Shabanu

So I have to read this book for my Language Arts class, and it's called Shabanu: daughter of the Wind. It's by Suzanne Fisher Staples, and it's about this Indian/Pakistani girl, Shabanu, who lives with her mother, father, sister, and animals on a camel ranch. Shabanu loves camels, especially Mithoo, a camel she birthed herself, and Guluband, the family's old, trustworthy traveling cmael. When Guluband gets sold for a great sum, Shabanu knows it is right but also knows she'll never be whole again without him. She sullenly continues on the journey back home, and when she arrives, she finds her relatives there, preparing for Phulan's dowry. Phulan, her older sister, is soon getting married off to Hamir, the brother of Murad, who Shabanu is getting amrried to eventually. Everyone's hustling and bustling, and when the nig sandstorm hits, Grandfather disappears. They search and search, and find himalmost completely caked in sand, dying. They rush him to Derawar, the base where he served in the army. After they refuse to give him a decent grave after he risked his life for them, Shabanu's famiy buries Grandfather in the sand near Derawar. The family waits out Ramadan in the village, waiting to go to Hamir's family's home to prepare for the wedding.... That's where I am so far. It's really good! You should read it! 4 stars, so far!

By the way, sorry if I'm not posting much, I'm very busy with school and after-school activities and HALLOWEEN! But I'll try to keep you guys posted as much as possible from now on, okay?
